I have a fairly new category called family Favorites. These recipes have been in the family for generations and are NOT vegan…but…. they are worth trying and hopefully becoming your family favorite too! This dish sounds impressive and it’s on fancy restaurant menus but guess what? It’s not hard to put together and it’s company worthy. (and… YOUR house will smell amazing and get those taste buds ready for a delightful meal!)
CUT round steak into strips 1 1/2 inch wide, dust with 1/4 c. flour, dash of pepper and 1/2 tsp salt (set aside)
LARGE SKILLET
BROWN
1 package of fresh mushrooms, sliced
1/4 c. butter. (or 3 Tbl. olive oil)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 red onion, chopped
When the onion is translucent add;
Meat and brown
*I also like to add a splash of red wine to my mushrooms, IF I happen to have some on hand.
AFTER MEAT IS BROWNED:
Stir into meat and mushrooms: 2 cups of beef broth, cover and simmer till meat is tender. about 60 minutes…stir occasionally (you may need to add a little more broth while cooking. )
Stir in 1 c. of sour cream and cook over low heat for 5 minutes
SERVE:
serve over noodles or rice prepared the way it says on the bag or box.
