This tasty little beverage is brought to you by my brother, Kevin. While most of us like the margarita side of this, the sister of my heart, Jan, prefers her lime aid straight up . The only thing that could make this even better is if you have a lime tree outside your back door. Sadly, I do not! 🙁 You could exchange the limes with lemons, if you prefer. Simple syrup is just sugar and water boiled together so it doesn’t separate. For this recipe, the ratio is 1 cup water to 2 cups of sugar. I made this drink for a church connect group so didn’t use the alcohol. I thought it needed a little more water to replace the alcohol portion. Remember, this is going over either cubed or crushed ice so will water down a little bit. Don’t over dilute your pitcher of lime aid to start with.
4 oz. of fresh squeezed lime juice (about 3-4 limes)
5 oz. simple syrup (2 cups sugar/ 1 c. water)
3 oz. Jose Cuervo gold Tequila
1 1/2 oz. Grand Marnier Liqueur
8 oz. water
For 1 pitcher of lime aid ( 6-8 glasses worth) I used:
8 oz. of lime juice
10 oz. of simple syrup
26 oz. water
- I also added a couple drops of green food dye
